In light of severe weather heading towards Southwest Georgia during the course of the day on Thursday, the National Weather Service has issued
multiple watches
for Southwest Georgia.
A tornado watch has been issued for Baker; Calhoun; Clay; Decatur; Dougherty; Early; Grady; Lee; Miller; Mitchell; Quitman; Randolph; Seminole; and Terrell counties until 7 PM .
Weather.gov states that a tornado watch means that conditions are conducive to the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.
A freeze watch has been issued for Baker; Ben Hill; Berrien; Brooks; Calhoun; Clay; Colquitt; Cook; Decatur; Dougherty; Early; Grady; Irwin; Lanier; Lee; Lowndes; Miller; Mitchell; Quitman; Randolph; Seminole; Terrell; Thomas; Tift; Turner; and Worth counties until December 22nd at 9 AM.
According to weather.gov, a freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible for at least two hours.
