Schools across Georgia will now use the College and Career Ready Performance Index to rate schools.

ALBANY, GA -- The Georgia Department of Education now have a more rigorous accountability platform to rate its schools on.
Instead of using Adequately Yearly Progress (AYP), which only looks at test scores, schools will now be using the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), which amongst other things looks at performance, attendance, and post school readiness.
The new system paints a more complete picture of a schools performance, "it's an accountability measure that's pretty complex that gives parents the way of seeing what we can do, and what our results are in a fair way that's across the board," said RD Harter, the Dougherty County Public Information Officer.
Officials say CCRPI will make it easier to compare schools not only across the state but also across the county.
This will be the first year for the new rating system in Georgia and should be used to set the benchmark for future years.
