ALBANY, GA --
Georgia gun advocates scored a victory Thursday as the Georgia House of Representatives voted 117-56 in favor of HB 512.

"What it does is create revisions to the existing Georgia law to make it easier for people who are licensed concealed carry owners to carry firearms in certain places," explains gun enthusiast and owner of Georgia Gun and Loan.

Bars and college campuses are on that list of places, but students we spoke with didn't seem concerned; "I'd feel fine with it as long as they were permitted, it wouldn't bother me," said Chelsey Potter, from Darton State College.

However, feelings are mixed when talking about lifting the ban for places of worship

"Certainly, it's a way to protect yourself then again, you're taking a weapon inside a house of God," said Samuel Allen.

If the bill does pass, it doesn't mean every bar, church and college campus will automatically have licensed carriers walking around with their gun.

"It's not forcing anybody to have a gun at a church place or anything like that, but it gives the church property the option to make that decision," said Drew.

Before the property owners have to make that decision, the senate must first decide to pass the "Lawful Carry Act".
