ALBANY, GA -- A fire broke out shortly after noon at the Skyline Equipment Company on Liberty Expressway Thursday.

Dougherty County EMS, Dougherty County Police Department, and the Albany Fire Department were all on scene shortly after the fire broke out.

Battalion Chief Daniel Potter said that it is apparent that people were welding and a spark or ember got away from from causing fire.

Two injuries due to heat exposure were treated on scene and arson investigator Sam Harris is in route to the scene to continue the investigation the cause of the fire.

Potter says the damage is mostly structural, but could have been much worse if the building had not been made of metal.
