ALBANY, GA. --

The city of Albany has a new brigade of officers to keep city streets safe.

A swearing-in ceremony was held at the Law Enforcement Center Monday evening for Albany Police Academy graduates.

Eight new patrol officers have taken the oath to protect and serve.

Family and friends came out to watch as the brave few were officially welcomed into their new roles.

One graduate says it's good to finally be a part of the APD family.

“It was difficult just being away from your family and being in Tifton at seven in the morning and not knowing what time you're going to get back. It was kind of rough but it all paid out in the long run,” said Larry Hart, APD Patrol Officer.

Chief John Proctor gave words of encouragement after the uniformed brigade took their oath.
