Viewers and FOX 31 employees have reported getting a multitude of phone calls from unrecognized numbers.

ALBANY, GA --
Been getting a lot of calls lately from numbers you don't recognize to the tune of over 20 in a day?
After running into the issue at FOX 31 and hearing from viewers asking what was going on, FOX 31 reached out to Verizon Wireless to ask them what the issue was with so many calls being made from people that do not even realize they are making them.
Kate Jay of Verizon's Georgia-Alabama region responded with the following statement:
We are aware of a recent issue affecting a small number of phone lines with the 229 area code that were ported in to Verizon Wireless from another carrier, which has caused our impacted customers to receive calls in error from their customers. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate customers' patience while our network engineers work with the carrier to resolve the issue.
