Today at 6:36 PM  Hurricane Earl didn’t travel toward the Florida Panhandle, but 16 years ago, remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto stalled over Georgia, causing a massive flood in the southwest area of the state. This brings up the question of flood insurance: Do you need it?

Today at 9:10 AM  UPDATED with video. Residents and officials of North Carolina's barrier islands were waiting for daybreak to see how much damage the storm's winds and waves had left behind.

Yesterday at 10:00 AM  The National Hurricane Center in Miami issued a tropical storm warning early Thursday for the coast of Long Island in New York and a hurricane watch was issued for areas of Massachusetts.

Yesterday at 5:50 AM  Red Cross in Albany is sending an Urgent Response Vehicle filled with food and beverages to North Carolina for Hurricane Earl aid.

Yesterday at 5:45 AM  Participants in Wednesday's National Incident Management System training session included the Albany Police Department, the Albany Fire Department, the Dougherty County School System, Dougherty Public Works, and the Marine Corps Logistics Base. They learned communication, coordination, and cooperation.
