ALBANY, GA --
After welcoming new Aviation Commissioner Willie Adams, the Airport Committee motioned on Monday evening to keep both Chairman Dr. William Mayher and Vice-Chairman Sanford Hillsman in place another term before moving into the the meeting's new business agenda.

Following that decision, the board debated whether or not to allow contractors to install a large fan inside the new terminal in case of hot summer days. After hearing both sides, the board decided against installing the fan – but the decision isn’t permanent.

"They were hoping to do it early so that they wouldn't have to worry about it later but they found out because there's already drywall in that space that it would cost them just as much to do it later," said Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Director, Yvette Aehle.

Aehle says they're going to keep track of how the air conditioning system that was specifically designed for the building holds up during a hot Southwest Georgia summer before deciding if the fan is needed.
