ALBANY, GA -- For the Albany State football team, it's do or die, win or go home…all those clichés rolled in to one this week.
Pride's always on the line in the annual Fountain City Classic against Fort Valley State, but a SIAC Championship spot adds to the rivalry affair with the winner taking the eastern division.
Practice has picked up this week with the stakes at their highest.
“We're leaving it all on the field. We're trying to practice hard because we know this could be our last game if we don't win. It's win or go home from here on out and we're not ready for our season to end yet,” ASU Running Back Nathan Hoyte said.
“You don't really need a lot of motivation when playing them, or with what's at stake. We just have to have a good week of preparation and let's go get it,” ASU Head Coach Mike White said.
An Albany State defense that is allowing less than 13 points a game in it's last five will be tested against a top Fort Valley scoring offense and receiver Chris Slaughter.
Kickoff set for two o'clock Saturday in Columbus, Georgia.
