ALBANY, GA -- All the pieces are there for the Darton State College Men’s soccer team. A number one national ranking, undefeated record and home field advantage for a possible NJCAA National Championship.

Darton State hosts the Region 17 tournament at Cavalier Field this weekend with high expectations. The Cavaliers haven’t lost on their home pitch in two seasons.

The Cavaliers came so close to a National Championship last year. Saturday begins another run to prove that number one ranking.

“My belief is that as long as we play like we're capable of playing that we should win. There's nobody as good as us if we play like we're supposed to play, but if we let somebody else dictate us we're going to be in trouble,” Darton Head Coach Bart Sasnett said.

If we don't win this weekend, the whole undefeated season, 15-0 is a waste...it goes to nothing. People will remember us as the Darton team that went undefeated the whole year, but when it mattered they couldn't win,” Sophomore Midfielder Troy Tucker said.

The Darton State men host Wallace State, Alabama in the semifinals on Saturday night. The Cavaliers haven’t lost a night game at home since 2009.
