COLUMBUS, GA -- The Albany Panthers can get comfortable at home for the postseason- thanks to back-up quarterback Chris Mitchell.

With playoff home field advantage on the line, Mitchell scored four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lead Albany over Columbus 57-54.

Mitchell scored the game winning touchdown on the ground with 24 seconds left to make the score 57-48. The Lions added a touchdown on the last play game after many of the Columbus fans had already headed for the exits.

Trailing 34-29 in the fourth, Mitchell replaced starter Cecil Lester and took advantage of the Lions suspect defense with his arm and his legs. Mitchell connected with Antwone Savage for two passing touchdowns and ran for two more in the final quarter.

Cornerback Damien Daniels terrorized his former team picking off two Lions passes. Daniels had been dealing with concussion-like symptoms this week, and Coach Lucious Davis said Daniels was a game-time decision.

The Panthers make the trek to Richmond next week for the regular season finale before opening the playoffs on June 23.
