Crisp Baseball Stays Unbeaten, Worth Swept

CORDELE, GA -- The Crisp County record may have switched from 25-0 back to 0-0 for the start of the playoffs, but the second column remained the same after round one.

The Cougars swept Mary Persons 3-2, 5-1 to advance to the second round of the GHSA AAA State Playoffs. Crisp will host the winner of North Hall and Allatoona next Wednesday.

Worth County Exits in First Round

The end of Worth County's baseball season can be summed up in two backbreaking innings.

The Rams were swept at West Laurens 11-1, 5-0 in Friday's GHSA AAA State playoff series. West Laurens tallied 14 of their 16 runs in the final two innings of each ball game.

In game one, the Raiders posted a six-run fifth inning and a four-run sixth inning en route to a 11-1 shortened game. In game two, West Laurens broke a 1-0 game open in the sixth/seventh with a four-run output.

Third baseman Denzel Gowdy finished the series 3-3 for the Rams.
