ALBANY, GA -- Saturday night, the Albany State Golden Rams had to stomach a loss to their most hated-rivals, the Fort Valley State Wildcats. To make things worse, the team lost one of their leading scorers in the second half.
ASU guard Justin Wilcox left the game with a head injury. Wilcox was checked by doctors as a precaution. Golden Rams Head Coach Chris Cameron is hopeful the junior will play Tuesday at home against Benedict College.
As for the Saturday’s game itself, Cameron says his team missed too many opportunities particularly after getting the deficit down to six points.
With only four games remaining before SIAC tournament play, Coach Cameron is checking to make sure all his players are still level-headed.
“For 18 to 22 year old kids, you have to think about the psyche. As a coach, as a grown man who's been there and done it...I understand but I just don't want them to get too down because they lost one or two games. The main thing is to keep their confidence up and eliminate the mistakes that we're making,” Cameron said.
The Golden Rams host three of their final four games at HPER Gym. Tuesday's tip off against Benedict College scheduled for 7:30 PM.
ASU Softball Schedule Changes
For ASU Softball Coach Robert Skinner and his Lady Rams, Monday is just too cold.
Albany State and Valdosta State have rescheduled their doubleheader from Monday to Wednesday.
The temperature is supposed to be 20 degrees higher on Wednesday which should work out better for Coach Skinner.
First pitch between ASU - VSU is still set for 1 PM
