ALBANY, GA -- The 16th chapter of the Deerfield-Windsor - Sherwood Christian rivalry followed the historical script to a “T”. The first and last SCA Eagle victory against the DWS Knights was in 1997, and the Eagles weren’t adding a second game to the win column on Friday night.

Deerfield buried SCA in a hole early, and didn’t let up. The Knights defeated the Eagles 49-13 scoring 21 straight points to open the first quarter.

On the Eagles first offensive play, Deerfield linebacker Kh’ron McClain intercepted a Brett Sheppard pass for the early 7-0 lead. After SCA’s second drive halted, Knights running back Gaughf Ivey broke through the Eagles defense for an easy touchdown.

It was 21-0 Knights before Sherwood showed a bit of life on the field. Eagles wide receiver Rashard Davis added a quick jolt to the SCA sideline by taking a 90-yard kickoff straight up the gut for one of Sherwood’s two touchdowns.

Both teams have an early season bye next week before the two teams head out on the road. DWS will play at Stratford Academy while Sherwood travels to Brookwood School.
