ALBANY, GA -- A quarterback problem is brewing for the Albany State football team.

Two weeks remain in spring practice and there are five quarterbacks throwing in the ASU offense. Yet, according to Albany State Head Coach Mike White, none of these white-jerseys will start for the Golden Rams in 2013.

In general, the offense is receiving most of the attention this spring. It's a unit that struggled tremendously in 2012 and has to replace main contributors running back Nathan Hoyte and receiver Ronnie Tubbs.

Coach White says they're still working the recruiting trail for signal callers, but there is another option. Coach White believes the ground game may solve the possible passing woes.

“We're going to have run the ball a lot better this year than we ran it in the past. The quarterback that comes in here is going to have a whole lot of say in how much we throw it,” Coach White said. “Right now, the focus this spring is trying to get the run game going.”

The Golden Rams wrap up spring practice March 21 with the annual ASU Blue and Gold game.
