ALBANY, GA -- After a second straight league championship, the Albany Panthers management boasted confidence in keeping their core of winners together.

The team has stayed true to its word announcing several key additions for the 2013 season.

The Panthers have their on the field and locker room leader back in the fold. After missing last season, defensive back Demetrie McCray will return for the upcoming season.

Along with McCray, the offense is getting its firepower back. Quarterback Cecil Lester and receiver John Harris have also signed on the dotted line for another season of Panthers football.

Panthers head coach Lucious Davis frequently discussed chemistry concerns throughout the 2012 championship run. With the core leaders back in the Albany Civic Center, that won’t be much of a concern.

You want to be a professional at all times. People in the community look up to you, so can't go out and get in trouble,” McCray said. “At the same time, on the football field, we've got to carry ourselves in a professional manner, too. I like that role. I don't mind having that weight on my shoulders.”

The Albany indoor football team has been busy this offseason signing plenty of defensive backs.

Damian Daniels and Corey Rue have already agreed to return along with newcomers to the secondary, Stoney Woodson and Peter Riley.

The Panthers have also signed last season's receiving leader Antwontis Cutts and kicker Ryan Gates.
