ALBANY, GA -- The Cook High Hornets are still dominating the early portion of the 2012 schedule. While the rebuild is still in the works for the Dougherty Trojans.

Behind running backs K.J. Edwards and Grant Wilson, the Hornets powered past the Trojans 42-14 Thursday at Hugh Mills Stadium.

Entering the non-region contest, the Cook defense had allowed two total points in blowout wins over Worth and Crisp County. The Hornets onslaught against AAAA-Region 1 continued leading 21-6 at the half with a running clock enforced in the second.

Dougherty scored their first half touchdown on a 35 yard pass play from quarterback Mike Whatley to Madarious McWhorter. Whatley threw to McWhorter in the flat at the 30 yard line and the receiver blasted through for the score.

Cook has a bye next week before region competition begins against Thomasville. Dougherty opens region in Sylvester against Worth County next Friday.
