ALBANY, GA -- Normally, sporting a roster full of underclassmen wouldn't be a positive, but the Sherwood Christian football team is taking a different approach.

Moving down to AA in the GISA, the Eagles roster is 70% underclassmen and Coach Otis Covington like his chances.

Dynamic running back M.J. Green is gone. Senior T.J. Clay is filling the void using his talents at receiver, defensive back and kicker.

After a 1-9 season in 2011, SCA made changes and the Eagles like their youth.

“I think the youth is going to be an advantage for us. They don't know what it's like yet to not succeed. Coming from the middle school program, those guys were successful, so they're going to bring that exuberance to the team and energy to the team,” Coach Covington said.

The Eagles are acclimating to game speed with two scrimmages in the next two weeks. Sherwood will face Crisp Academy Friday and Calvary Christian on August 17.
