CORDELE, GA -- Crisp Academy pitcher Jordan Howard lives for baseball.

“When you can't eat, or sleep, or go a day without thinking about it...you gotta love it,” Howard said.

Pretty soon, the Wildcats junior may be making a living off of it. This week, Howard is traveling to Minneapolis, Minnesota to take part in an invitation-only national showcase called the Perfect Game.

“The (Perfect Game) National is definitely the most scouted showcase in the nation. I've read where it's taken kids out of the woodwork into the top ten rounds, first round...everything,” Howard said.

The one day baseball extravaganza is catered toward the top 250 soon-to-be seniors in the nation. The Georgia Southern commit, who is also fielding interest from heavy hitting Division 1 programs such as Stanford and Georgia Tech, is used to this type of high level attention.

However, this week will be his first experience in a major league ballpark playing at the Minnesota Twins Metrodome. With so much of his baseball future on the line, even Howard’s 6’2”, 220 pound frame isn’t immune to some anxiety.

“Pretty sure there are going to be some butterflies, but hopefully not too bad so I can get the job done,” Howard said.

To get the job done, Howard must make an All-American-type impression on the scouts. As the 38th ranked Perfect Game player in the nation, Howard is right on the fringe of being selected to the prestigious All-American game this August in San Diego.

Some notable alumni from that All-American game include: Washington National phenom Bryce Harper and Atlanta Braves Jayson Heyward and Freddie Freeman.

“I haven't played in a perfect game event since the summer and just getting back out there...being with the best is definitely a big honor. This week, I'm definitely looking to move up (in the rankings). A bunch of people moved ahead of me and I want to take it back,” Howard said.
