ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Panthers closed out their regular season home schedule tonight. Though, Saturday’s game will not be the final game played at the Albany Civic Center this season.

Defense was at a premium, but the Panthers played just enough of it for a 74-64 victory over the Knoxville Nighthawks. With the win, Albany hosts a first round playoff game at Phoebe Field.

Antwontis Cutts, who scored the final touchdown of the first half, sealed the game with an interception in the final 20 seconds.

The Panthers trailed Knoxville six times in the first half, yet held a 40-36 lead entering the break. In the first, Lester threw five touchdowns connecting with wide receivers Antwone Savage and Clenton Rafe on two scores a piece.

The first-place Panthers face a tough road to the regular season finish. Albany travels to Columbus next week and Richmond in the finale. Richmond defeated Alabama on Saturday night to stay within one game of first place.
