NEWTON, KS -- The Darton College golf season ended Friday at the NJCAA National Championships in similar fashion to 2011.

The Cavaliers finished fifth overall shooting +61 in the four round tournament. In 2011, Darton returned from the national tournament with a fifth-place tie.

Indian Hills College was ahead of the pack for most of the week, and the Iowa-college clinched the national championship on Friday. While Meridian College, ranked number one for most of the season, finished one spot ahead of the Cavaliers in fourth.

Darton College Head Coach Bill Jones III admitted his team shot themselves out of national title contention on Thursday, but two Cavaliers still had a shot at the individual championship.

Sophomore Austin McNeill started the day in the top five- McNeill finished way out the running shooting a +17 on Friday. Sophomores Shad Tuten and Joe Sakulpolphaisan finished T-11th earning All-American honorable mention.
