ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty High School football program has been in rebuilding mode the past two seasons. Now, the Trojans will have to continue to patch the football program with a new head coach.

Dougherty Head Football Coach Jesse Hicks has resigned from his Trojan post. Dougherty County School System Athletic Director Johnny Seabrooks received Hicks’ resignation letter Friday morning.

The former Trojan coach completed his second season with the school in 2011. In the two seasons, Hicks finished with an overall record of 3-17 winning one game this year.

Before coaching the Trojans, Hicks was the head coach at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Georgia. Hicks coached the Braves for eight seasons leaving with a 70-24 record. Some people with knowledge on Hicks' resignation expect the coach to find a coaching job in the Central Georgia area.

Calls placed to Hicks’ cell phone Friday night were not immediately returned.
