ALBANY, GA -- There is the saying two heads are better than one. Atleast for right now, the Albany Panthers subscribe to the belief that two arms are better than one.
Panthers Head Coach Lucious Davis is still not ready to name a full-time starter for this weekend's home game versus Columbus. Last week, Davis said he was taking the first two games to evaluate the quarterback position. Today, Davis decided to stretch that process out to this week, as well.
Although if there were a game today, the coach knows what quarterback would be starting.
“A.J. I’m not going to change it, but I mean who knows…we have a whole week of practice. I just felt like emotionally, mentally…he wasn’t in the game, so that’s why I went with Cecil early. On the road, I didn’t want to get down real bad…get into a dog fight,” Davis said.
In week one, former league MVP Cecil Lester sparked a 2nd half comeback win over the Louisiana Swashbucklers 30-27. Last week in Charlotte, AJ McKenna started the game, but Lester played a majority of the 58-45 win against the Carolina Speed.
The Panthers face the reigning SIFL champion Columbus Lions on Saturday. Columbus defeated Albany in the last week of the 2010 regular season 38-20 in route to their championship. Kick off is set for 7:30 at the Albany Civic Center.
