DOHA, Qatar (AP) — The gender case of South African Caster Semenya remains unresolved after seven months, leaving her future in track uncertain.

The International Association of Athletics Federations said Thursday it is still working on the case of Semenya, won the women's 800 meters at the world championships in Berlin in August.

IAAF spokesman Nick Davies said "negotiations and discussions" were ongoing, but refused to comment further.

Semenya's dramatic improvement in times and muscular build led the IAAF to order gender tests. The IAAF is still reviewing the results to determine Semenya's eligibility to compete.

In September, Australian newspapers reported that Semenya has male and female sexual organs, but the IAAF has refused to confirm or deny those claims.
