ALBANY, GA -- The Westover basketball team has guarded against the trap game. And thanks to a tremendously skilled set of guards, the Patriots have answered all questions about their state championship eligibility.

Westover tallied its second double-digit playoff win Saturday pulling away from Westside, Macon 78-63. The Patriots created their breathing room in the second half doubling a six point lead by the end of the third quarter. Guard T.J. Cromer nailed a jumper at the buzzer for a 54-42 lead.

The win sets up a power match-up at the Willie Boston Garden with Eagles Landing. The winner will move on to the GHSA state semifinals at Fort Valley State

Blue Devils Blowout Westlake at Home

How about some revenge for Tift County basketball? Clearly, Tift County didn’t forget the 2012 first round loss to Westlake, and the team proved it Saturday.

Tift County was forced to turn away fans at the front door due to a sellout crowd, but all who squeezed their way in to the Palace witnessed a dominant performance. The Blue Devils advance to the third round of the GHSA State playoffs with a 100-83 win over Westlake.

At one point in the first quarter, Tift County held a 39-12 lead before settling in with a 56-30 halftime lead.
