SYLVESTER, GA -- The Monroe Tornado basketball team finished the region season the way they started- without a blemish on the record.

Missing some main contributors, the Tornadoes merely survived against Worth County Saturday for a 51-47 win, but 14-0 is the number that matters most.

Worth County has been playing better basketball of late and pushed Monroe throughout the Rams senior night tying the game with three minutes left.

As the one seed for the AAAA-Region 1 tournament, Monroe will sit comfortably at its home gym this week preparing for the semifinal games Thursday.

The Monroe Lady Tornadas weren’t playing for much Saturday against Worth County, but they still managed a 79-30 victory.

The Monroe girls will open their region tournament Thursday at 7 PM.
