LEESBURG, GA -- A pair of Lee County baseball players have signed with Middle Georgia College. All thanks to some recruiting from one Trojan player to the other.
Lee County left-handed pitcher Chris Mosley and outfielder Andrew Stroud signed scholarships with the Warriors Friday.
Mosley, a career 7-1 starter for the Trojans, has been committed to the NJCAA school for quite some time. It was Stroud that needed some convincing and his biggest recruiter was his lefty teammate.
Ultimately, the opportunity to play in front of professional scouts was too much for the players with professional aspirations.
“Going to Middle Georgia, the first time I was there...there were scouts lined up around the backside of the fence. It was at least 20 or 30...it was amazing,” Stroud said.
“(At Middle Georgia) you can hope to get drafted after two years. That's my hope, to get seen by some good scouts and get drafted in to the big leagues. That's kind of my dream,” Mosley said.
Entering the senior season, Mosley holds a 3.8 ERA with 62 strikeouts for the Trojans. Stroud had a breakout junior year hitting .355 with 36 RBI’s and 5 home runs.
