Stunning. Shocking. The only words that come to mind after Tift County’s 68-63 loss to North Cobb in the GHSA State AAAAAA Quarterfinals.

Leading for a majority of the first three quarters, the Blue Devils collapsed in the fourth to end its 2012-13 season two wins away from a state championship.

Entering the day as the state’s number one ranked team, Tift County led 52-45 after the third and looked to be heading to a state semifinal spot before North Cobb started to run in the final quarter.

Westover Fails to Slay Eagle’s Landing Giants

The Westover Patriots can score points with the best of ‘em in basketball. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they couldn’t keep up with the size of Eagle’s Landing on Wednesday.

Westover’s dream season ends in the Elite Eight round after an 85-61 loss to Eagle’s Landing. During the first half, the Patriots handled every blow trimming several large Eagle’s Landing leads down to four and two points.

The Patriots entered halftime down 41-30 and the opposition never gave Westover much of a chance in the second half. Westover’s star guards, T.J. Cromer and Kel Miller, led the team with 21 and 17 points respectively.
