ALBANY, GA. --

Children in one Albany neighborhood are rushing to get their letters to Santa mailed in hopes that they will make it to the North Pole by Christmas.

Friday evening, kids in the McIntosh Community took to pen and paper to ask for items they want for Christmas.

They also had the chance to make ornaments and decorate the community center's Christmas tree.

The Albany Housing Authority, Mission Change and Hines Memorial C.M.E. Church banned together to host the event and they say it was successful since more than 50 kids attended.

And after sealing their letters to Santa and decorating the tree, the kids had snacks before heading home.
