ALBANY, GA -- The Westover football team will host a state playoff game Friday night. It’s a first for the Patriots program, and a second helping at a familiar opponent.

In their home playoff debut at Hugh Mills Stadium, Westover opens with a regular season rematch against Jonesboro high.

Losing 34-12 in the first meeting, Westover must contain Cardinals playmaker Cameron Sutton, committed to University of Tennessee, to avoid the sinking repeat feeling of a loss.

Westover outplayed Jonesboro in the first half of their first meeting heading to the locker room with a 12-8 lead. That lead was quickly extinguished by the speed and play of Jonesboro’s Sutton.

At 9-1, Jonesboro may be an overqualified three seed, but the motivation element is sitting in the Patriots camp.

“Our motivation is that we didn't play well the first time. We have the opportunity for a do-over. I told the guys last week many times in life you don't get do-over’s, but this is a do over,” Head Coach Octavia Jones said. “That's our motivation...we want to go out and play better than the first time.”
