ALBANY, GA -- A change of scenery proved to be enough for the Albany State baseball team. After starting the season with a 1-6 record, the Golden Rams finally played their first games on the home diamond.

And the Golden Rams made sure both of their games counted against Selma University. Pitching wasn’t a problem Friday as ASU defeated the Bulldogs 4-3, 5-2 at Albany State Park.

In game one, shortstop William Smalls’ solo shot notched Albany State a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. All four Golden Rams runs were scored by different batters.

The fifth inning was once again friendly for the Golden Rams in the game two. The teams were tied at two until a string of Selma errors plated the deciding runs for Albany State. Second baseman Tevin Collins finished the game 2-3 with an RBI.

The homecoming won't last long for the Golden Rams. The team is back on the road Tuesday against Edward Waters.
