ALBANY, GA -- Consider the Albany Panthers 2012 league championship celebration complete.

The hometown team kicked off the 2013 home schedule Saturday against Columbus, and the Panthers kicker gave Albany a round one victory in the state's indoor football rivalry.

Kicker Ryan Gates nailed a field goal with five seconds remaining in the game for a 40-37 Panthers win. Columbus tied the game at 37 on a field goal with 13 seconds remaining.

With the victory, Albany moves to 2-0 for the 2013 season.
