ALBANY, GA --
Local schools participated in Read Across America Day Friday.

This day is held annually on the day closest to March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

Pam Roshio with Lamar Reese Middle School said it’s important to have these days that stress how important reading is and having members of the community come and read Dr. Seuss books to children is a fun way to raise awareness of the issue.
