ALBANY, GA. --

After 25 hours of labor, Jonna and William Harrell of Camilla, Georgia are the proud parents of Albany’s first baby born in the New Year.

Kyleigh Marie Harrell was born at 4:58 a.m. Tuesday morning at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

“I'm just happy she's here. But it is unique to have a New Year's baby and the first one,” said Jonna Harrell, the infants mother.

The mother of the child was due to give birth on January 6th but Kyleigh came early.

“We thought we were going to have her on New Year's Eve but we ended up being in labor for twenty five hours,” said Jonna Harrell, Kyleigh’s mother.

The baby came out weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and she was 20 inches long.

Kyleigh is the first child for the newlyweds and the first grandchild for both of their parents.

The infant's father, William Harrell, is set to leave for basic training in February. Kyleigh's early arrival gives him more time to bond with his newborn daughter.

“It's a physical and emotional test and I’m just happy that I have this time to remind me every day,” said William Harrell.

The Harrells say as they enter the new year with the gift of a lifetime, their resolution to be great parents and give their daughter a good life.
