ALBANY, GA -- Westover football player Nytrellis Ross has earned his chance at college football. Although during his senior season, the idea always seemed an arm-length away.

The defensive back, Ross, has signed with Tennessee’s Cumberland University after playing in only six games this season. A shoulder injury prevented Ross from piling up the stats, but he made enough of an impression for the private school.

Ross kept the faith and the confidence of Patriots head coach Octavia Jones finishing the year with seven tackles and one interception.

“After the injury, Coach Jones had it set up where I was still getting good playing time and in position to make plays. It was God because it almost turned out...every time I was in…a play came my way and I was able to make it and still develop a highlight film,” Ross said.
