CORDELE, GA -- The baseball factory in Crisp County has cranked out another player with professional aspirations.

Crisp County pitcher Robert Tyler signed his letter of intent with the University of Georgia Wednesday, but the three-year varsity player has bigger goals.

Tyler pitched perfectly for the Cougars with an 8-0 record during his junior season. Proud of his accomplishment in signing with the Bulldogs, Tyler's now focused on a GHSA state championship with Crisp County. But when June hits, Tyler expects his focus to shift.

“It's just the starting point. The MLB Draft is in June, and hopefully that will turn out good. If it doesn't, then I'll be proud to play college baseball at the University of Georgia,” Tyler said.

Already, Tyler has shown his abilities at the national level. This summer, Tyler pitched in the Perfect Game and Under Armour national showcases from San Diego's Petco Park and Chicago's Wrigley Field.
