ALBANY, GA -- On the football field, there may not be a more one-sided rivalry than Deerfield-Windsor against Sherwood Christian. Looking at the numbers, they tell a story of Knights domination, but there's a reason it’s called a rivalry.

Sherwood Christian has improved in its second season under Coach Otis Covington and intend to challenge Deerfield as the city rivals meet again. Deerfield has dominated this series winning 15 of 16 games with their lone loss coming in 1997.

But a team coached by Allen Lowe doesn't overlook a team- no matter the circumstances.

“Hopefully, they’re mature enough to handle it (the rivalry)…they know we have one game to play and this week it’s Sherwood. We’ve got to get better this week with an off week coming next week and then region play. This is our last chance against somebody else to improve ourselves,” Knights Coach Lowe said.

“I think our chances are based on how well we start early, and what we’re able to do in the second half. We can’t make mistakes. They are a team that executes very well,” Sherwood Coach Covington said.

Both coaches consider the match up a primer for region play set to open in their next games. Sherwood Christian (3-2) travels to Valwood Oct. 6. Deerfield-Windsor has a week off before facing Bulloch Academy. With a win Friday, Deerfield Coach Allen Lowe will earn his 200^th career victory.
