ALBANY, GA -- In a scrimmage originally set for Friday, lightning reshuffled the cards for Albany and the Brooks County football teams.

In a former AA-Region 1 match-up, this game had the looks of a former region game between the Indians and Trojans. Brooks County has gotten the best of the Indians in recent years. That trend didn’t change Saturday night at Hugh Mills Stadium.

Behind quarterback Malcolm Parrish and running back Brandon Golden, Brooks County ran over Albany 31-0.

The Trojans took a 24-0 halftime lead in to the Hugh Mills locker room. Golden scored on a four yard run late in the first quarter for the first Brooks County touchdown. Parrish couldn’t be contained on the ground nor the air tossing two touchdown passes in the second quarter.

Albany quarterback Emmanul Byrd, not allotted much time by his offensive line, couldn’t get the Indians offense in sync.

“We're not in shape. People that we think are ready are not quite ready. Mental mistakes, busted coverages on defense. Overall bad, but not real bad...I see some bright spots. We just have some work to do,” Albany Head Coach Felton Williams said.

With two weeks to recover, the Albany travels to Greenville High to open the season. As for Brooks County, the Trojans host Clinch County on August 24.
