ALBANY, GA -- Albany-native Andre Young is two days away from officially starting his dream of NBA basketball. For Young’s dream to be fulfilled, another quasi-audition awaits with Golden State Warriors in the NBA’s Summer League.
The former Clemson point guard picked up a Warriors invite last Thursday playing alongside 20 other NBA hopefuls.
This will be the former Deerfield-Windsor star’s chance to prove his worth against the top draft picks in the 2012 draft. Talking with the point guard last, as he prepared for his trip to Las Vegas, Young said the level of talent is what excites him the most.
“You can kind of figure out where you stand, how much work you need to do, and just meet new guys and play against new guys. (You can) make new friends out there on the court...that's the easy part, that's the fun part,” Young said.
NBA Summer League action runs from Friday to July 22. Each team playing five games, Young and the Warriors open against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday.
