LEESBURG, GA -- There’s a familiar feeling surrounding the Lee County baseball team.

The Trojans open the 2012 GHSA 4A State Playoffs in the same position as 2011- at home and as the number one region seed. But that’s where the comparisons end according to the Trojans players.

In 2011, Jones County ended Lee’s season in three games at Trojan Field- don’t count on the same result this season against Wayne County (13-13).

“We've had our ups and downs...all teams do, but last year I don't feel like we played Lee County baseball. I feel like this year everybody's more focused and we're going to play like we should,” Trojan Starting Pitcher Jess Posey said.

The team appears to be peaking at the right time. The team has won 9 of its last 11 games posting double-digit run totals in six of those 11 games. A balanced offense has the Trojans excited to avenge the 2011 loss.

“We're just going in to it like it's another region game that we got to win. We're not going in to it like it's for State...if we go in to it like that…we'll be uptight,” outfielder Andrew Stroud said.

Lee and Wayne County will play a doubleheader Friday night starting at 5 PM. The “if necessary” game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
