ALBANY, GA -- The Deerfield-Windsor Girl’s basketball team didn't have to wait, or look too long for their new head basketball coach.
Former Westfield coach Jeff Eubanks is moving within the region to become the Lady Knights head coach.
Eubanks has been coaching for 25 seasons. He spent seven of the last eight seasons working with the Hornets on the court.
Last year, Eubanks switched to working with the students in more of a classroom setting. The coach hung up his whistle to become a Westfield Assistant Principal, but couldn’t pass up an opportunity like Deerfield.
“I would like to continue the winning tradition- Deerfield always has that. It's obvious when you look at the banners they have here. I would like to challenge the girls that I'll work with this summer- let's continue that tradition,” Eubanks said.
The longtime coach is very familiar with the Knights winning tradition, and perhaps that’s what excited him most about coming to the school.
“Deerfield is always very well-attended in their sports events, especially basketball. Coming in to a gym like this, it's somewhat intimidating being an opponent, and I know that first hand from being on the other side,” said Eubanks on his new home court.
