ALBANY, GA -- It was a star-studded day on the links of Albany's Doublegate Golf Club. Not for famous golfers- but for some NFL Hall of Famers.
Ten former NFL superstars played with local golfers to benefit the 100 Black Men of Albany’s mentoring program and the Dougherty County Sheriff Department’s summer youth program.
The 100 Black Men of Albany and the Dougherty Sheriff’s Department teamed together for their annual golf tournament- and they threw together quite a crew.
A round of golf with a NFL superstar was up for bid to all participating golfers.
NFL Hall of Famers Rayfield Wright, Ted Hendricks, Bobby Bell, Billy Shaw, Elvin Bethea, Joe DeLamielluere, and Mel Renfro along with L.C. Greenwood, Billy Joe Dupree and former Atlanta Falcon Jessie Tuggle spent the day driving, chipping and putting with some of Albany’s average Joe’s.
Tuggle, who spent his entire career with the Atlanta Falcons, weighed in on the state of his former team. The possibility of the Atlanta Falcons joining with HBO’s Reality Show, Hard Knocks, was a topic of conversation.
“I think they're going to have to stay focused…no doubt about it. If they just go about their daily business, and do what they have to do…it shouldn't be much of a distraction,” Tuggle said. “But when there's a camera in your face and they're watching everything you do- I imagine it could be a little bit of a distraction. As long as, they stay focused they should be ok.”
