ALBANY, GA -- Overall, the Darton College Golf team has seen mixed results on the course this season, but one Cavalier sophomore's consistency has taken him all the way to the top.

Currently, sophomore Joe Sakulpolphaisan holds the top spot in the NJCAA’s stroke average. The Thailand-native has blazed through the competition winning the individual trophy at both of Darton’s first spring tournaments.

Sakulpolphaisan says it's an honor to be number one, but can only continue to work on his game. As for the rest of his team, they bragged a little bit more on their top player.

“He's just got a talent that not many people are born with...he never misses a shot and he's so humble about it. He's just a good kid overall,” sophomore teammate Shad Tuten said.

“The kid hits it so straight. Really it's just a matter of…if he putts well he's going to win by several if he doesn't he's going to finish top five,” Darton Head Coach Bill Jones III said.

In two weeks, the Cavalier golf team tees off in its third spring tournament. The Ron Marshall Spring Fling will be held at Scottsboro, Alabama's Goose Pond course from March 15-17.
