ALBANY, GA -- It was a signature day, a signature win for the Darton College baseball team. Tuesday night, the Cavaliers defeated nationally-ranked Chipola College on a ninth inning rally.

Wednesday, the team hoped to veer away from that dreaded “let-down” game.

Just barely- Darton survived its test at Cavalier Field against Wallace-Dothan 9-7. After giving up a five run lead in the fifth inning, the Cavaliers had to claw back to hold off the Governors.

It was a tie game at one after three innings. The Cavaliers used timely singles and a throwing error to jump ahead 6-1 in the fourth, but Cavs starting pitcher Ryan Lemonds couldn’t record an out in the top of the fifth. The score was 6-6 after the half-inning. Darton catcher Tripp Calhoun went 2-4 with a double

DC travels to Pensacola, Florida for two games Saturday before returning to Cavalier Field Sunday against Gulf Coast College.
