ALBANY, GA -- It was senior day at HPER Gym for the Albany State basketball teams. With more than half of the Golden Rams moving on when this season expires, it was a big day for the men’s team.
The Albany State Golden Rams and Lady Rams capped off senior day in style with a sweep of Claflin Univeristy. The men’s team held off the Panthers 65-63 behind 15 points from Rachard Lofton.
The Golden Rams trailed 37-30 at the half, but opened the second on a 12-0 run. Senior Demarcus Blunt pitched in 13 points shooting 63% from the field.
The Lady Rams needed a similar second half run to pull away from the Lady Panthers. A 13-2 run kept Claflin at bay for the 78-65 victory.
Albany State travels to Stillman College to end the regular season Thursday.
