CORDELE, GA -- In less than a month, the Nascar season will be going full throttle down in Daytona. Two of the biggest names in the sport took a break from Sprint Cup Series training Sunday to trade a little paint in Cordele, Georgia.

Sprint Cup drivers David Ragan and Kyle Busch raced down to the wire in the Champion Racing Association's Speedfest 200 from Watermelon Capital Speedway.

Busch had enough for a third straight Speedfest win. Ragan finished his day in third place. While 14-year-old John Hunter Nemechek, the son of Nascar’s Joe Nemechek, qualified in the second spot, and finished in 11th.

Ragan was born just up the road in Unadilla, Georgia. In front of an impressive CRA crowd, the hometown hero was excited to show off for the local fans.

“We came down to put on a good show for the fans and we've got to appreciate all the fans that came out. It's good to see everybody out,” Ragan said.

While Busch qualified third for this year’s race, the Las Vegas native was the heavy favorite after winning Speedfest the previous two seasons.

Busch has seen his fair share of success on Nascar’s short tracks winning at Bristol in 2011. The Watermelon Speedway track is estimated at 2/5 of a mile, and once again Busch delivered.

“It's obviously a shorter race than normal, but still a long race in respective to these cars. It's fun though,” Busch said. “It's great to see a great crowd out here in Cordele, and I'm excited about a fun day.”
