ALBANY, GA -- It was much tighter this time around between the Albany and Mitchell County basketball teams.

In December, the Albany squads barely flinched at the Eagles down in Camilla. The Indians defeated the Eagles 46-34. While the Squaws won by 17 points in the final game before their holiday break.

But Saturday night's games were different. Maybe it was the weather.

The Albany girls had to storm back in the final two minutes of the game. Senior Chastity Mullins hit a three pointer from the corner to tie it. Moments later, Mullins gave Albany the lead for good hitting one of two free throws.

Mitchell County's final shot spun off the rim, and the Squaws escaped 37-34 at home.

The boys team had their own late-game drama. The Indians won in overtime beating the Eagles 54-52- thanks to scoring leader Tim Pierce's 20 points.

It's back to region play for both these schools. Albany hosts Fitzgerald Tuesday at 6 PM. While Mitchell County hosts Miller County.
