NASHVILLE, GA -- Last summer, the Berrien County baseball team witnessed their top player in Larry Greene jump from high school to the MLB draft.

Another Rebel may be hoping to follow in Greene's footsteps sometime in the near future.

But for now, Berrien pitcher Drew Harrelson has inked a baseball scholarship with Middle Georgia College. Harrelson signed Wednesday in the Berrien County High School media center in front of the coaching staffs, family members and friends.

Last season as a junior, the Rebel-lefty was named the AA-Region One Pitcher of the Year. Harrelson led the Berrien staff to the second round of the playoffs- totaling seven wins and a 3.52 ERA over the complete season.

The southpaw has high expectations for his upcoming senior season at Berrien, and is particularly excited to earn some revenge on region-rival Cook.

The past success of Middle Georgia and the pitcher’s desire made Harrelson a perfect fit for the program.

“I like the great traditions...and it's a small college. You can walk to all your classes and I like the coaches. I'd like to go play for Coach (Craig) Young and Coach (Christian) Castorri...just to win another championship for them,” Harrelson said.

Harrelson didn’t count out professional options at the end of his senior season. Harrelson said “he’d probably take it” if he were to be selected as high as his former teammate Larry Greene. Greene was selected as a supplemental first rounder by the Philadelphia Phillies- #39 overall in the 2011 draft.
