ATLANTA, GA -- The Albany State Golden Rams needed one more win for their second straight SIAC championship. A rematch with Miles College was the only obstacle standing in the Rams way of the title and a playoff berth.
The Golden Bears proved to be a mighty obstacle at Clark-Atlanta’s Panther Stadium.
Miles College kicker Patton Chambers kicked a 32-yard field goal with nine seconds left in the game to give the Golden Bears a 20-17 lead over the Rams and the SIAC Championship.
The Golden Rams snagged the lead at halftime 9-7 when quarterback Stanley Jennings connected with wide receiver Jessie Atkins for a touchdown late in the quarter. However, ASU trailed in the fourth quarter 17-9 before tying the Golden Bears.
With the loss, Albany State (6-2, 8-3) is likely eliminated from Division Two playoff contention.
