ALBANY, GA -- The Darton College women's Soccer team had one goal in mind at the beginning of the 2011 season, and that was to reach the national championships. The dream became a reality last Saturday as the Cavaliers backed up their talk.
The women's team defeated Brevard College 2-1 to avenge one of their two regular season losses. Now, the Cavs lead by head coach Ken Veilands, are one of the final eight NJCAA teams still playing ball in the nation.
The Cavs are still feeling good from weekend's win, and plan to use it as motivation for the next goal on their list.
“It felt amazing honestly, and if I could replay that moment over and over...I would. But now it's on to Nationals and you can't just stay on that moment...you have to want...the national title now,” Sophomore Renee Hurd said,
The Darton women’s team will leave for the NJCAA Soccer-1 National Championships next Tuesday. The tournament officially begins next Thursday, Nov. 17.
